EDOM — The Old Firehouse in
Edom has announced the second half of its 2010-2011 concert season.
Bringing national folkmusic singers and songwriters to
this small Van Zandt Coiunty town “has been the goal of Jeff and Judy Gottesman
with their Old Firehouse Acoustic Music Concert Series,” a press release said.
Each month, listeners from Henderson, Van Zandt, and
Smith counties, and from Denton, Dallas, Waco, Austin, and Houston,
“enjoy the intimate atmosphere of this 70-seat smoke-free
and alcoholfree ‘coffeehouse’ music room, which is a labor of love carved out
of a portion of the old Edom Volunteer Firehouse.”
The majority of the ticket proceeds go to local and
national singer and song- writers performing their own original music, but
additional sponsorships from local music lovers helps pay the bills, Jeff
Gottesman said.
“It’s been difficult watching similar venues close over
the past few years, so we’ve devised a business plan that will cover most of
our expenses from ticket sales,” he said.
“However, several sponsors have thankfully stepped up to
help us build a cushion against unexpected bills.
“From the looks on the faces of our listeners and the
feedback we’re hearing, I think our hard work has paid off, and now national
acts are contacting us and requesting performance dates.”
Tickets are available in advance or at the door. To view
