Randy Brown (www.brownrandy.com)

Randy Brown is about as eclectic a songwriter as any you have ever run across. With subjects as diverse as talking to extraterrestrials with flashlights, bull nettle for state flower, border radio stations, peeing on electric fences and testosterone poisoning make his songs take unexpected turns and give unusual insights to the less common aspects of existence. When asked about his music he responds Imagine Charles Darwin meeting Guy Clark and Van Morrison at a MIT BBQ celebrating Einstein's birthday.” I would agree that about sums it up.

A self styled amateur cosmologist, performing philosopher and 2009 independent presidential candidate (didn’t win but still has really cool bumper stickers and tee shirts), 1997 and 2009 Kerrville Folk Festival Regional Finalist, 2007 New Traditions Songwriting winner and
most recently the winner of the 2009 Texas Independent Music Expo songwriting competition. When asked to sum up his music career he states “I wrote my first song at 13 and haven’t slowed down yet, I have run music venues, produced records and played in most every VFW, American Legion and cut-n-shoot from Shreveport to Dallas and from the Oklahoma Border to Lufkin. I spent 8 years hanging out with Jealousy Motel, writing great songs, making better music and recording 2 acclaimed CDs. It doesn’t get much better that that.” . But he still isn’t slowing down. His solo CD Dream Big has gotten great reviews and radio airplay and according to him a new one is in the works for 2010. Proof positive that the upper east end of Texas has more to offer than hardshell Baptists and dry counties.

Byrd & Street (www.byrdandstreet.com) opening

In 2009, this Americana Acoustic Duo were the New Folk Finalists at Kerrville, and nominated for a 2009 Texas Music Award as Outstanding Vocal Duo. They took first place in the Country category in the 2006 Austin Songwriter's Group contest. Byrd's earthy vocals intertwined with Street's sweet pure voice create the tight harmonies that have become their trademark.

"Byrd & Street are an excellent duo featuring impeccable vocals and harmonies and intelligent, well-executed guitar-playing. Great songwriting with arrangements that have a polished, professional sound reviving a classic style with refreshed sensibilities."

Before joining forces with Kathy Street, Tommy Byrd played with The Geezinslaws, sang harmony with Willie Nelson, and won numerous songwriting awards, including the Song of Austin. Kathy sang with folk and pop groups, a sister's quartet, and performed in musicals and cabarets.

Andy Gullahorn (www.andygullahorn.com)

Andy Gullahorn thinks deep, writes of normal things, and says he's found his place in the scheme of things. A native of Austin, Texas, he now lives in Nashville where he has become a part of the songwriting community, sharing his wit, insight and songs. Andy's musical career began when he learned to play piano around age three. He dabbled with guitar in grade school, then took it up in earnest during high school after realizing that no amount of practice would make him tall enough to qualify for the NBA-his first career choice back then. Writing his own songs came next, followed by a move to Nashville for college and the music scene; then albums Old Hat in 1999, Reinventing the Wheel in 2008 and The Law of Gravity in 2009.

We first heard Andy at the 2009 Wildflower Festival in Richardson, Texas. We were taken with this wordsmith whose dense lyrics invite listeners inside his songs to share the imagery and message that ride along melody. Andy also offers a sly sense of humor, at work in songs like "Roast Beef," a ballad that eulogizes a digit gone AWOL; and "Workin' Man," which is a formula for success, of a sort. That's all we can say without giving too much away!

Reserve your tickets now for a Sunday afternoon of original, clever, thoughtfully-composed songs by a singer-songwriter you'll want to hear again, as we did.

BettySoo (www.bettysoo.com)

Change is good. Sometimes, you just need a little shake-up to get things to how they always ought to have been. With Heat Sin Water Skin, BettySoo' latest CD, she adds some welcome edge and grit to the heartbreaker ballads and bell-pure vocals she's come to be known for. Her vocals are striking, the players strong, the sound gripping, and the lyrics compelling.

Her first studio efforts (Let Me Love You, 2005; Little Tiny Secrets, 2007, Never the Pretty Girl EP, 2007) were well received by critics, earning praise locally and nationally - even securing her performance opportunities overseas. And she’s not slowing down any time soon.

Then again, not much about BettySoo isn’t surprising. People are surprised just to see her take the stage. Plain-faced, petite (clocking in at exactly 5 feet), and freckly, people don’t have any idea what to expect – they certainly don’t expect such a large voice and moving songs
